Transparency International-Nepal (TI-Nepal) organized a Semi-Annual Review and Training focused on the BNIN program. This event took place from 23-24 June 2017 at Hotel Amadabalam in Kathmandu. The program participants included the representatives of Affiliated Organizations (AOs) of 8 districts, TI-Nepal Board Members, and BNIN program staff. TI-Nepal’s President Mr. Shreehari Aryal (Senior Advocate), Dr. Ram Dayal Rakesh (Vice President) and Ms. Padmini Pradhananga (Secretary-General) addressed the program sessions.
After the inaugural, the first session began with a presentation on the BNIN program planning and implementation process. AO Program Officers took the stage to introduce themselves and explain various aspects of the district based BNIN program- its progress and challenges. A summary of AOs’ performances was provided and discussed. Sharing of successful initiatives was made by 3 AOs. Discussion on new plans, reporting forms, complaint forms, and matters relating to programmatic activities and finances also took place. On the second day, Dr. Prakash C. Bhattarai, a consultant researcher, provided feedback and led a discussion regarding the Public Service Delivery Survey 2074 BS, another aspect of the action plan.
The program highlighted the need for a review session on a semi-annual basis. AOs and Program Officers were encouraged to consistently and effectively implement the goals and missions of the BNIN program. In this regard, TI-Nepal President Aryal appreciated the outcomes of the BNIN program and suggested that AOs should explore viable yet creative means to counteract corruption.
