The Fund for Peace, a Washington D.C, based non-profit research and educational institution, and the Foreign Policy magazine publishes an annual Failed States Index. Failed States Index ranks states based on their socio-economic and political performance, of which four are social factors, two economic and six political factors. Socio economic indicators include demographic pressures, human flight and brain drain, state legitimacy, poverty and economic decline, human rights, security apparatus.
