Press Release

Transparency International Nepal pays heartfelt tribute to the patriotic youths who sacrificed their lives during the historic Gen Z movement to free the nation from misgovernance and corruption, wishing their souls to rest in peace and expressing deep condolences to the grieving family members. We also wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.

We express our deep sorrow over the unimaginable loss that the nation’s precious properties have suffered during the movement. In this context, the organization feels additional pain as there had been no hearing despite alerting the government and stakeholders time and again, to effectively control the increasing corruption in various sectors. It is our collective responsibility to protect the nation’s assets. We hope that moving forward, the nation will be governed with full accountability and responsibility to prevent occurrence of such circumstances.

The way forward now is to put an end to the oppression of corruption that ordinary citizens have suffered at every walk of their life through ensuring complete good governance in the country. A system needs to be established where the government, including all three organs of the nation, are run by those inspired by a sense of service and with capability to create abundant opportunities for the youth in their motherland. For this great task ahead, we at Transparency International Nepal would like to express our readiness to work in collaboration with the Gen Z youth leadership, stakeholders, and the general public.
